Lang may yer Lum Reek
Fum fum fum and lang may yer lum reek a song about smoke from wood from a fire. A greeting about having enough wood so your chimney would smoke. Old sayings, old words, very old greetings ,imaginings in my mind of things that were so important in the ancient past and for so many, still are today. The homeless, sleeping out on the street on a cold day and night. The poor, with no fuel, or even wood to heat their trailers and homes. We have not come very far at all, if there are still those who need to beg for help to heat their homes, or have nowhere to go for shelter. I do know people who own more than one home, some in the warmer climates. Who made their fortunes on the backs of the poor with bad investments and credit and the wealthy with good investments and money to manipulate. This season causes me to ponder so much more of what I have and other’s don’t. One of which is a woodstove that we heat our Log Cabin with, we can at least cut or buy the wood. I pray for those who can’t,and help where I can. Because everyone deserves warmth and shelter and food.
